Is there any effort by the committee to avoid rematches in regionals if possible? It would be a shame if Clemson went to USC as a #2 seed, but I fear a loss to NCSU could drop them to a #2.

Good point, Alex -- UCF and Miami are in the mix too. I just don't think their resumes compare well with TCU, USM and Clemson, and the geography isn't such a huge plus—there will be two regionals in Florida, enough for most of the teams in the state.

How would Mercer have a better shot than Elon when Elon has a better RPI. Also, the committee will look at a first place team in a generally strong conf versus a 4th place team in a conf. If you dont finish top 3 in a mid major conf you should have to win the tourney. Elon should still be a lock as the Socon reg season chamos with a decent RPI deserve an at large.

I still wonder whether UCF (RPI 16) or Miami (RPI 18, although possibly as 2 seed) is in that hosting mix so you have a third Florida regional. Extra competition for Arkansas, Clemson, Oklahoma (especially if 4 Texas teams are hosting. Seems like it's them v. TCU for one spot), and S. Miss (fading with pitchers suspended). Lots of teams from the Sunshine state give UCF/Miami a regional boost...

I'm usually fired up about something when I post on this site but I must say I think this is a very logical and well done write up in relation to the current situation. Nice job. If Belmont wins the A-Sun I honestly wouldn't have a problem with that conference getting four bids though I don't think it would happen.
