Even though Coach Pat Murphey did illegal things pertaining to scholarships and recruitment, why punish the boys for his mistakes? What is a journey without a destination? Those boys have the skill and aptitude to go all the way this year, yet won't be given the chance. The coaching staff was changed and the school is monitoring the program more closely so why not let the boys play the game? NCAA put restrictions on recruitment calls and scholarship money so why not make the season fair for everyone and remove the ban. It's disappointing how close ASU came to winning it all last season to not even being allowed to partake in post season! Playoffs are supposed to be the best of the best competing for that number one title…. if ASU is banned who will know who the best really is?

If baseball was treated fairly with number of scholarships some of these things would not have to happen

Thanks for the update. After being part of the 2007 UCI college world series team it makes me wonder what could of happend if we never lost our first game to ASU. Perhaps if all this would have been cleared out then our CWS run would of ended in a different way. Im glad the situation is being taken care of but would hate to not see the ASU team not compete in this yrs postseason they are an awsome ball club.

If there have been multiple infractions over the years, perhaps the Baseball coach shouldn't be the only one to go. Ultimately, it's the athletic director who should go. Lisa Love should be shown the door and sactions should follow her for more than just one year.

Aaron: Great update. Really interesting to see how this entire situation played out. The rumors about some of the questionable ways that Murphy ran the ASU program (either based on jealousy, envy, or truth), have been long standing. We really don't have a clear idea of everything that Murphy did. Because there seems to be significant time between when the offenses occurred and when the NCAA acted, what message does that send to some of the other schools that may be engaging in similar conduct, if any? Take the chance and keep pushing the limits until you get caught? Thanks again for the update.
