OMAHA—An hour before the scheduled first pitch of the Oklahoma-South Carolina game, the tarp was covering the Rosenblatt Stadium infield, and it seemed likely we were in for a late start. Fifteen minutes later, the tarp came off, so maybe there's nope. I plan to take advantage of any weather delays to call my father and step-father on this Father's Day. There are plenty of father-son tandems milling about the ballpark today (including our friend and former co-worker Matt Meyers and his dad)—hopefully they get a chance to take in some baseball soon. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!
Let's get to the Day Two picks.
Oklahoma vs. South Carolina: John and I agree that the first game is a toss-up. The Sooners and Gamecocks are both playing with all kinds of confidence, and I get the feeling both are playing with chips on their shoulders, as well. South Carolina seems to have the pitching edge today with ace Blake Cooper going against MIchael Rocha, but I like Oklahoma's offense better, so I'm taking the Sooners. OU proved it can hit righties with good stuff last weekend in Charlottesville; Cooper's stuff is no better than Robert Morey's, and the Sooners tattooed him. No team in college baseball has been hotter down the stretch than Oklahoma, and I think its strong play continues today. John said he just has a hunch about South Carolina, so he's taking the Gamecocks.
Clemson vs. Arizona State: In the second game, I like Arizona State over Clemson. The Sun Devils are better on the mound, better defensively and just a little bit more consistent. I think their pitching staff will be able to contain Clemson's potent offense. John is also taking the Sun Devils. He thinks they'll be able to get out to an early lead behind Seth Blair and hold it, but even if Clemson gets the lead, he doesn't think the Tigers will be able to hold it with their shaky bullpen.
Aaron's Picks: Oklahoma, Arizona State
John's Picks: South Carolina, Arizona State
Yesterday:
Aaron: 1-1
John: 1-1

A little bit more consistent? Id say a lot more…ASU hasn't lost back to back games all year, and the one series they lost at WashSt temps were in the 30's w/ snow flurries…
