One spot difference in the RPI is no difference at all. Vandy has a slightly better overall record, but not all nonconference schedules are created equal, and Vandy's was weak (nine games against teams outside the top 200, vs. five for Auburn). But most importantly, Auburn won its SEC West division and had four more wins in conference (although Vandy did have two games vs. Georgia rained out). The SEC schedule is the equalizer; Auburn finished red-hot (winning its last five series), while Vandy did lose a home series the last weekend, and also a series at Tennessee three weeks before that. Momentum matters, too. Overall body of work for Auburn is simply better. But I do think Vandy is right on the cusp of hosting a regional. That last host spot is still up for grabs, and Vandy is very much in the mix.

I'm amazed you say "Auburn keeps its National seed hopes alive" when there's another team with an overall better record, a higher RPI, a higher NPI, won their series against Auburn, is in the winners bracket at the SEC tournament, and yet you're predicting they won't even host a regional. Why no respect for Vandy???
