The NCAA has announced the 16 regional hosts, and there are no surprises (we were 16-for-16 in our final projection late last night/early this morning). The hosts:
Arizona State
Arkansas
Auburn
Cal State Fullerton
UCLA
Coastal Carolina
Connecticut
Florida
Georgia Tech
Louisville
Miami
Oklahoma
South Carolina
Texas
Texas Christian
Virginia
Florida State remains my pick to earn the No. 1 seed in the Norwich Regional, where Connecticut figures to be a No. 2 seed. Other candidates are Vanderbilt, Clemson and maybe Alabama as a darkhorse.

If you look ahead to supers, wouldn't the UConn bracket likely be opposite UVa? If so, FSU and Clemson are unlikely to go there as the 1. Vandy or 'Bama is more likely…
Otherwise, supers are something like:
ASU-Oklahoma

Texas-TCU
Coastal-S. Carolina
Florida-Miami
Louisville-Arkansas
UCLA-Fullerton
Ga. Tech-Auburn
I think the Norwich regional will be paired with the Conway, SC regional.

Posted by B Rock | May 30, 2010 at 6:26 pm | ShortcutThis is an unprecedented move of bumping a northern team above other higher rated and capable hosting southern teams. The committee should be ashamed of itself.
That wouldn't matter they have put it where SEC teams have had to play in the Super Regionals before.
Posted by Tigerterrace | May 30, 2010 at 10:28 pm | ShortcutGo Devils! Arizona State is 8-0 vs. fellow regional hosts, posting a sweep of Auburn , UCLA and Cal St Fullerton. The ACC as usual has an easy path, but will likely still falter as they have so many times. Pac Ten and SEC are looking strong.
