Tickets to the final College World Series in Rosenblatt Stadium go on sale April 3 through Ticketmaster at 8 a.m. Pacific time. At this rate, there will be a lot of Arizona State fans getting up early that Saturday morning to get their hands on some tickets.
The Sun Devils improved to 17-0 with a come-from-behind 8-6 win at Cal State Fullerton yesterday, giving ASU a sweep of its two-game midweek series at Fullerton. The Titans led 5-3 heading into the eighth, but Arizona State scored five times on six hits in the eighth, and the stellar Sun Devils bullpen nailed down the win. Arizona State and Pacific-10 Conference brethren UCLA remain the nation's only unbeaten teams.
Elsewhere, Tulane completed its own impressive sweep of a two-game midweek series, beating Kansas 5-3. The Green Wave came from behind to win with three runs in the eighth. Tulane improved to 12-6 by winning two straight against a Kansas team coming off a series win at Louisiana State.
There was just one upset in the Top 25 on Wednesday, as High Point outslugged East Carolina 13-12 behind five hits from DH Pablo Rosario.
Here in the Triangle, I headed down to the USA Baseball National Training Center in Cary to catch a couple of 11-win teams, Liberty and Duke. Liberty got a very encouraging start from senior righthander Dustin Umberger (5 IP, 1 H, 1 ER), who is still working his way back from Tommy John surgery. Umberger ran his fastball up to 90 mph and used a sharp breaking ball very effectively. But Duke got stellar work from starter Chase Bebout (5.1 IP, 1 ER) and from its bullpen en route to a 3-2 win in 11 innings. I got the chance to see freshman second baseman/righthander Marcus Stroman work two scoreless innings of relief for the Blue Devils, and it was easy to see why Duke is so excited about him. He worked in the 90-92 mph range and mixed in an occasional power breaking ball at 78-80. Stroman got out of a bases-loaded, no-outs jam in the ninth by getting two strikeouts and a harmless ground ball to shortstop.

This Sundevil team is really playing tough at the plate. The team has made a few more errors in the field than ASU fans are used to seeing, but this team has a real never say die attitude. Coach Esmay is doing a great job with this team.
