The Prospect League announced Thursday that it will expand from 11 to 14 teams for the 2010 season. The new franchises joining the league are the Dekalb County (Ill.) Liners, the Terre Haute (Ind.) Rex and the West Virginia Miners.
The Liners will play at Founder’s Field in Sycamore, Ill. The Rex will play at Sycamore Field on the campus of Indiana State in Terre Haute. The Miners will play in Linda K. Epling Stadium in Beckley, W.V.
“The Prospect League is extremely proud to announce the addition of three new members for the 2010 season,” league president Bryan Wickline said in a statement. “All three new teams will bring great facilities and ownership to the Prospect League. We are honored to approve these members and look forward to helping them bring an outstanding summer baseball program to their communities.”
The Prospect League (formerly the Central Illinois Collegiate League) is hoping to expand to 24 teams in the near future. The league is also looking for a new commissioner. Interested candidates should e-mail commissioner@prospectleague.com.
