OMAHA—Because we’re based in North Carolina, we’ve had a front-row seat to see Dustin Ackley for the last three years. It really has been a treat to see a player that good, that consistent. But the rest of the country gets to see him every year in the College World Series, and he hasn’t disappointed. Ackley broke the College World Series record for career hits today, and he’s already surpassed it by three hits. A reporter in the postgame press conference asked Mike Fox to put his star into perspective, and here was his attempt. Coach Fox admits he just is running out of things to say about Ackley, and I don’t blame him.
