Mmmm, Barbecue

Here’s a quick rundown of teams that have gone two-and-’cue at regionals. We’ll have a full Saturday recap and a look ahead to Sunday later.

Georgia State (Atlanta Regional)

Texas State (Austin Regional)

Southern (Baton Rouge Regional)

Dartmouth (Chapel Hill Regional)

Alabama (Clemson Regional)

Wright State (Fort Worth Regional)

Georgia Southern (Fullerton Regional)

Bethune-Cookman (Gainesville Regional)

George Mason (Greenville Regional)

Sam Houston State (Houston Regional)

Fresno State (Irvine Regional)

Indiana (Louisville Regional)

Wichita State (Norman Regional)

Monmouth (Oxford Regional)

Marist (Tallahassee Regional)

Cal Poly (Tempe Regional)

Just two No. 2 seeds so far, Texas State and Alabama, with the Crimson Tide the biggest surprise in terms of being a big-name school, but without injured third baseman/righthander Jake Smith, the Tide was not close to full strength. The Colonial Athletic Association gets the ziggy for having both of its entrants, George Mason and Georgia State, go 0-for-4 combined in regional play.

Interesting, OK state is not on this list……maybe they are a good team. I am sure Rhode Island or Missouri State would have beat clemson. But then it would habe been a perfect tournament, the 1 seed would have had a cake walk, exactly what everyone wants as long as the feel good stories happen with the mid majors getting in. If a 3 seed gets to the super regionals that is a better story for college baseball, not a feel good story going 2 and q.
