UW-La Crosse drops baseball. WIAC conference now is at 6 teams. More Div. III teams could follow as they don't have the revenue or budget to compete.

It's tough for schools in cold weather climates to get fans interested in watching baseball games in February and March. There's still snow on the ground in many of those places. Sometimes they're forced to spend the first month of the season playing road games, which costs much money. Northern schools with huge athletic budgets (Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State) or access to an indoor facility (Minnesota) don't have to worry about a poor economy. Hey, there's a reason we don't have any college hockey teams in Texas. Hook 'em Horns! Jim Fletcher
