This legistration was taken because some private schools who do not belong to the BCS are making appearences in the CWS. These universities are taking spots in the CWS that they feel belongs to only state schools. Private school tuition for those wanting to transfer is usually a lot more expensive than state schools. The coach for a private school has limited funding for the sport of baseball & their transfers. Now, this body wants to tell the coaches how to spend 11.7 scholarships when football is allowed 85. If the NCAA want to do something good for the sport, why not up the scholarships. I think the NCAA should not dictate how a coach wants to spend 11.7 of these scholarships. This legistration is a slap in the face to schools like Rice, Baylor, Tulane, who have ALWAYS lead the nation in API's each and every year. Why don't they check these colleges graduation RATE. Tell me these schools are not playing by the RULES!!!!

I don't understand this action at all. Is there a good reason for singling out baseball? Have someone who supports this give their viewpoint please.

Great stuff Aaron. I wonder what would have happened if the leader for what's good for college baseball had been someone other than coach Polk, someone younger, someone with more to lose, someone with less history of antagonism towards the NCAA. Now we'll never know. It's a shame the other coaches in the nation once again sat back and hoped for coach Polk to do all the work for them.

This legislation is garbage. I played at a smaller Division I school in the south and we had numerous players who played who would never had a shot with this new legislation.

What is the legislation on a school having a non competing junior varsity squad? Is there any legislation or rules on that?
