Dave Serrano is a great baseball coach and deserves the attention. He took a program from dead to the world series. No wonder Oregon wanted to hire him! They got a good one in George Horton though. I figured Augie would be in the mix we all know he loves Texas, but he is so cal blood. It's a shame Vanderhook has to look elsewhere after being loyal for so long. I'm sure he will have no trouble finding a job. Either way both programs are still in the elite among college baseball and will continue that success no matter who is at the helm.

It is most likely the best that he would go, after all, he did take a shot of leaving for Oregon but could not due to questions on his degree.

The worst is the roller coaster for the players from UCI who have put their heart and sole into the program and the new recruits that have made a commitment to the program and are locked in especially with the new transfer rules.

Man, as a UCI alumn myself, I feel like Serrano was trying to do whatever he could to get out of Irvine. First he made a visit to Oregon after saying he wasn't interested in the job. Now he takes the Fullerton job after saying he was going to stay at Irvine. I know Fullerton is a great opporitunity, and they can make a stronger commitment to baseball than UCI can, but it really feels like a stab in the heart. Serrano really milked this Coach of the Year and the hard work of the UCI players for all its worth: the CSF coaching poistion.
