Gearrin has been up to the 90-92 range, but I don't know about 94. But there's no doubt he's a guy whose stock has skyrocketed this year. I just don't think he's quite in that elite Moskos-Cecil level yet; for one thing, those guys are lefthanded, and both have a chance for three plus pitches. Gearrin is strictly a fastball-slider guy, and while he's very deceptive, his velo is not quite in the same category as Moskos and Cecil. Supplemental round is starting to sound reasonable, though. Demel is the guy with a chance to move up into that elite category, because he has true power stuff.

I think I might take Sam Demel from TCU over most others at this point. In the chat someone said he was 93-96 and already had one of the better breaking pitches for college closers, I have never seen Gearrin though, sounds interesting, sounds like both these guys may end up leapfrogging Fields and some other college arms.

I saw in your Q&A a question about Cory Gearrin so I did some investigating. Apparently he is 90-92 up to 94. If thats true I would have to put him right up there with Moskos and Cecil on power stuff, but coming from the side, that has got to be some wicked stuff. I dont know where Gearrin stands if that draft were held today, I am just surprised his name has not exploded on draft boards. He is the type of guy who could follow a Houston Street path. In the majors within the year. What are your thoughts?
