40s will have everyone in the Northeast with spring fever, in shorts and having barbeques. If you are that susceptible to cool weather, get a dome.

My problem with the crying and whining about February weather is that it is this attitude that is behind the silly, late uniform start date that is being put into place beginning next season. I went to three games at three different California schools this weekend. At all three games, the weather was glorious, the stands were full, the baseball was excellent, fans were entertained, and programs made money. It was an excellent weekend for baseball in California. Next February however, all of the stadiums that were full this past weekend will be sitting empty because it's "too cold" in other places. That's just stupid. There is no way anyone will be able to convince me that not playing baseball is better than playing baseball. Not allowing baseball in warm weather states because its cold somewhere else in the country is akin to not letting your kid play with the PS3 that you bought for him at Christmas, because the kid down the street doesn't have one.

The Pacific Northwest teams have no choice but to play and practice in 40 degree weather. It's actually closer to 30 during the month of February. And just think one of those teams is the defending National Champs!

It is tough on a pitchers arm with weather that cold. But it does make you tougher.

Agreed. Suck it up Martin, 40 degrees is not so bad. In fact, I think it might toughen his players up a bit as long as he realizes the risks the pitchers face in colder weather.

Mike Martin needs to get a little perspective, up here in the north we would love to see 40 degree weather this time of year. I guarantee we will play in 40's and less before it is all said and done. Probably more than a few times.
